Arabic : القدرة الانتاجية للهجين المبشر( جيزة 90× استرالى) من طبقة الاقطان طويلة التيلة
Abstract Cotton Breeding Research Section, Cotton Research Institute developed the new promising cross (Giza90 × Australian) that belongs to Gossypium barbadense L. through means of artificial hybridization followed by pedigree method of selection. This promising cross is characterized by heavy bolls (2.5- 3.0 g), high seed and lint cotton yield and lint percentage as compared to the commercial varieties Giza90 and Giza 80. The promising cross exceeded Giza 90 and Giza80 by 8.77% and 25.32% for seed cotton yield and by 12.05% and 28.23% for lint yield, respectively. Moreover, the lint percentage of this cross is higher than commercial varieties (39- 43%). The fiber quality for the promising cross was in the same category for long staple cotton in Middle and Upper Egypt.
