| Abstract |
Two field experiments were carried out at Bahtim Agricultural Research Station Farm during the two winter seasons, 2009/2010 and 2010/2011 to study the effect of foliar application by either zinc or potassium or both on two barley variety (Hordeum vulgar L), in a clayey soil .
Results can be summarized as follows:
The barley variety Giza 123 was supperioer to variety Giza 131 on plant hieght, spike linght, 1000 grain weight, harvest index and grain yield as well as Fe, Mn and Zn content of grains in the both seasons. In addition to, grain No. /spike, and biological yield as well as N &K content of grains in the second season only.
Generally, in most cases, foliar application of K, Zn and K +Zn together achieved significant increases in yield and its components as well as chemical composition of barley plant compared with control treatment.
The mixeture addition of potassium and zinc combined with barley variety Giza 123 led to the highest significant increases in all yield components and yield as well as nutrient uptake. Meanwhile, protein percentage was higher by barley variety Giza 131 with all treatments under study compared to control treatment with barley variety Giza 123
