Wheat production as affected by anhydrous ammonia, organic compost and Biofertilizer application

Abstract |
A filed experiment was conducted on a clay soil during two successive seasons of 2008/2009 and 2009/2010 aut. at Sakha Agric. Res. Station (N 31000 . E30 0 59 at an altitude 6m), Agric. Res. Center, Kafr-El-Sheikh Governorate, Egypt. This experiment was carried out to define the effective role of anhydrous ammonia injection with different rates (i.e. 0, 25, 50 and 75kg N/fed), organic compost (i.e. 0, 5. 10 and i5mitcd) and bio-inoculation (Bacillus Polymyxa) as a N,-fixer as well as their interactions on wheat (Sakha 69) yield its components and NPK uptake/plant.
The obtained results could be summarized as follows:
Regardless of organic compost and bio-inoculation treatments, dry matter yield, NPK uptake per plant, number of tillers/plant, number of spike/plant, spike length, yield (grain and straw) and protein content increased with the application of anhydrous ammonia_ Meanwhile, the carbohydrates content was decreased by increasing the rates of anhydrous ammonia.
Regardless of anhydrous ammonia and bio-inoculation treatments, the application of organic compost gave the same trend of anhydrous ammonia.
Regardless of anhydrous ammonia and organic compost, the bio-¬inoculation of Bacillus polymyxa also increased dry matter, NPK-uptake/plant, yield and its components as well as protein percentage in grains
