Abstract This study was performed in the Department of animal production, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University. The study aimed at investigat the morphological and histological structure of the ovary of dromedary camel fetuses (Camelus dromedaries). This work was done on 36 specimens of different crown vertebral rump length (C.V.R.L.) of camel foetuses ranging from1 Cm to 108 Cm. The specimens were fixed in 10% formalin and weighted. The morphological character's, weight and measurements, length width and thickness of the ovalies were recorded. The samples were processed for histological examination and stained by Hairs haematoxylin and oesin (H & E), periodic acid schiff reaction (P.A.S) and Trichrome stain. The results can be and summarized as follows: 1-The morphological character's: 1- The ovaries were of kidney shape at most stages of development. 2- The ovaries reached their maximum weights at 96 Cm C.V.R.L. of foetal life (0.43 and 0.64 gm for the right and left ovary, respectively). 3- The graafian follicles could be traced Grossly at 96 Cm C.V.R.L. of foetal life. II- By histological examination the following results could be traced: 1- The primordia bf the ovary was observed at 1 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 2- The gonads were completely separated from the mesonephros at 10 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 3- Tunica albuginea was traced firstly at 16 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 4- At 28 Cm C.V.R.L. the parenchyma of the ovary was differentiated into different zones, with clear ovarian sex cords the primary follicles were observed firstly and the medullary tubules were observed. 5- The collagenic bundles at the tunica albuginea and septulae were clear at 31 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 6- The primary follicles were numerously detected at 47 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 7- The stages of folliculogenesis could be observed at 59 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus. 8- The first appearance of degeneration in the medullary tubules (esonephric ductules)could be traced at 59 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetuses. while at 71 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus the tubules were severely degenerated. 9- Graafian follicles were observed in mature form at 96 Cm C.V.R.L. camel foetus.
