Abstract The present work was carried out to study the effect of irrigation using drainage water on some soil chemical properties such as pH, EC, soluble cations and anions, total N, P and K and inorganic P fractions in soil, as well as wheat yield. The results showed that using drainage water for irrigating soils increased ECe values and soluble cations and anions in the soil paste extract compared to that irrigated with the Nile water. Soluble cations were arranged in the following descending order: Na+ > Ca2+ > Mg2+ > K+. While soluble anions take the sequent of arrangement: SO4= >Cl- > HCO3-. Inorganic P-fractions in soil varied due to soil texture; fine texture soil contained higher value of total-P compared with coarse textured one. The inorganic phosphorus fractions in the studied soils were arranged as follows: Ca-P > Solid-P > Fe-P> Al-P. The Ca-P fraction was the most dominant fraction in the studied soils. The results showed that soil irrigated with drainage water and received NPK gave highest yield of wheat. Dry matter yield of wheat varied due to soil texture and soils took the following descending order: sandy clay loam soil> Clay soil> loamy sand soil
