English : The Role of Mass Media in Graduate Farmers Awareness on Some environmental Resources Exhaustion and Pollution Domains in Some Villages in Kafr-El Sheikh Governorate

Abstract The main objectives of this study are to: determine the relative importance of graduate farmers exposure degree to different mass media concerning awareness them on activities related some environmental resources exhaustion and pollution domains (EREPD); determine performance role of mass media in awareness graduate formers on activities related to (EREPD) according to their opinions; identify the relationship between performance role degree in awareness graduate farmers on activities related to some (EREPD) and their studied independent variables; Also to recognize the obstacles that meet graduate farmers in getting knowledge through mass media in their awareness on some (EREPD). This research was conducted in three villages in Kafr El- Shikh governorate that were randomly chosen from gradute villages, these villages: El Phairose, Om el-Qura and Tiba , the sample of the study was 245 respondents represent 36.14% of the population. Data were collected by using questionnaire through personal interview during August and September 2008. Frequencies, percentage, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, weighted mean, simple correlation and multiple correlation and regression analysis ( step-wise)were used as statistical analysis tools. The most important findings were as following: 1- 60.82% of respondents had moderate degree in determining performance role degree of mass media in awareness graduate farmers on activities related to (EREPD) environmental resources exhaustion and pollution domains. 2- 45.37?% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to irrigation water exhaustion throw performance role of mass media. 3- 39.18% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to air pollution through performance role of mass media. 4- 52.24% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to water pollution through performance role of mass media. 5- 60.82% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to agricultural land pollution through performance role of mass media. 6- 41.63% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to environmental pollution due to chemical fertilizers through performance role of mass media. 7- 68.16% of respondents had moderate degree in their awareness graduate farmers on activities related to environmental pollution due to using pesticides through performance role of mass media. 8- It was found a positive significant relationship at 0.01 level between each of the following variables: agricultural land , devoting to agriculture work, practicing agricultural work, social participation, participation in agricultural extension, activities and performance role degree of mass media in awareness graduate on farmers activities related to some exhaustion and pollution environmental resources domains. 9- The important problems that met graduate farmers in getting knowledge through mass media that were related to exhaustion and pollution of environmental resources could be cited as followings. - it is not possible to repeat broadcasting radio programs related to environmental resources exhaustion and pollution ( 78.78%). - Decreasing agricultural areas on national journal pages that are related to environmental resources exhaustion and pollution (74.29%). - the duration of displaying program T.V. that related to env. res. exh. And pollution on screen is not enough ( 67.35%) . - Printed matter ( newspaper – bulletins magazines, books) that are related on to env. res. exh.and pollution are not available (66.53%).
