English : Effect of some enrichment and biological treatments on amelioration utilization of Atriplex nummularia fed by sheep
Arabic : تأثير بعض المعاملات و اضافة المولاس على تحسين الاستفادة من نبات القطف بواسطة الاغنام
Abstract Atriplex nummularia, barley and molasses have been used as alternative N and energy supplements, respectively. Five adult male Barki sheep with average live weight 50.50±2.00 Kg were ranked in a 5x5 Latin square design digestibility trials, where each animal given 250 gm barley per day as an energy supplement, while, Atriplex was given ad libitum. The five feeding diets were control: fresh Atriplex nummularia leaves & stems (FA), hay Atriplex halimus (HA), hay Atriplex nummularia mixed with molasses (HAM) where each kg of A triplex nummularia mixed with 100 gm molasses, Aitiplex nummularia silage (AS) and hay Atriplex treated with Trichoderma reesei (ATF). Rumen fermentation kinetics as well as some rumen parameters were monitored on five fistulated adult female sheep applying 5x5 Latin square design experiment. The results of digestibility coefficients, nutritive value, nitrogen utilization, and dry matter intake of sheep fed diets of ATF, HAM and AS were significantly (P<0.05) higher than those fed FA and HA. Ruminal ammonia-N, VFA's concentration, rumen volume and microbial protein synthesis were significantly (P<0.05) higher for animals fed ATF, AS and HAM than those fed HA and FA. It was concluded that Atriplex nummularia treated with Trichoderma reesei (ATF), hay Atriplex nummularia mixed with 100gm molasses (HAM) and Atriplex nummularia silage (AS) may be utilized in sheep feeding as it can provided an adequate supply of both energy and nitrogen requirements. Keywords: atriplex nummularia, fodder, shrubs, silage, sheep, intake, nutritive values.
