English : Toxicity of Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) Exposed to Gamma Irradiation Doses on some Pests

Abstract The newly hatched and fourth instars larvae of the pink bollworm, Pectinophora gossypiella (Saunders), 4th instars larvae of the cotton leaf worm, Spodoptera. littoralis (Boisduval) and adults & nymphs of the cowpea aphid, Aphis craccivora (Koch) are exposed to gamma irradiation doses of 100, 200 &300 Gy. In addition, the biocide compound, biover: Beauveria bassiana (Balsamo) exposed to the same gamma irradiation doses and study the efficacy of biover, biover+100 Gy, biover+200 Gy and biover+300 Gy against the same pests. The presented data showed that: Gamma irradiation doses of 100, 200 and 300 Gy increased the newly hatched larvae mortality to hundred percent of the pink bollworm at the fifth day after gamma exposure. The fourth instars larval mortality of the pink bollworm was hundred percent at the twelfth day after gamma exposure. Also, the larval mortality of the cotton leaf worm fourth instars larvae was hundred percent at 15-days after treatment. While, adults and nymphs of the cowpea aphid was hundred percent at zero days treatment. Gamma doses used potentiate the biover efficiency against the newly hatched and fourth instars larvae of the pink bollworm and sub lethal doses of the biover exposed to gamma doses lower than untreated one. On the other hand, biover + 200 Gy, followed by biover + 300 Gy gave sub lethal doses lower than biover + 100 Gy or untreated biover when the adults and nymphs of the cowpea aphid were treated by it. Opposite with cotton leaf worm fourth instars larvae, the gamma doses used had antagonism effect in biover efficiency and the sub lethal doses becomes higher than untreated biover.
