Abstract |
These studies were carried out to investigate the effect of climatic conditions on infestation of honeybees colonies with Varroa destructor in three Middle Egypt governorates (Giza, Fayoum and Beni-Suef) using different parameters during one years (2000-2001). Although no significant differences occurred between April, may, June, July and August. Yet significant differences were found between September, October, November and December. These results indicated the importance of this period for the control of Varroa mite from end of August to end of December. Low production of drone brood in hives rounded by aromatic and medicinal plants which affected mite population and consequently lead to a new method of cultural control of Varroa. All parameters fluctuated between governorates and months.
