Abstract The present investigation was carried out at El-Serw animal production research station ministry of agriculture to study the changes in serum immunoglobulin fractions concentration and white blood cells (WBCs) count of new born balady and friesian calves as affected by parity of dams. Twenty balady and friesian calves were assigned at birth to two groups. Group one consisted of 10 balady calves and group two 10 friesian calves (5 calves born from cows in 1st parity and born from cows in 3rd parity in both groups). The experimental period from birth to the end 3 weeks of age the calves. Radial immuno diffusion (RID) test was applied to determine serum IgG, IgM and IgA concentration. The average of their values was higher in the balady calves born from cows in the first and third parities than that in the friesian calves born in the same parities (17.72,1.44and 0.18 mg/ml vs.16.20,1.40 and 0.16 mg/ml),(19.31,1.70and 0.20 mg/ml vs .17.92,1.60 and 0.18 mg/ml ) respectively. The concentration of all immunoglobulin fractions in serum was decreased sharply from 12 hrs. to 24 hrs. of age in both balady and friesian calves. The average of WBC’s count was significantly higher in friesian calves born from cows in the first and third parities than that in balady calves born in the same parities (12.02x103 /ml vs. 10.67x-103 /ml),(12.70x103 /ml vs. 10.96x103/ml )respectively there were no significant differences in differential white blood cells % counts in the both breeds . The present results indicate that neonatal balady calves showed more immunity than friesian calves immunoglobulins fractions in the serum was higher in calves born from cows in the third parities than that calves born from cows in the first parities in both breeds. Keywords: immunoglobulin, IGM, IGA, Radial immunodififfusion, white blood cells.
