Arabic : استجابة العجول النامية لمستويات مختلفة من نخالة القمح في المخلوط المركز
Abstract Eighteen growing Friesian calves were used in a comparative feeding trial to evaluate the effects of different levels of wheat bran in rations on their growth and fattening performance and some rumen and blood parameters. Concentrate mixture (CM) containing 25% (A), 35% (B) and 50% (C) fine wheat bran, in addition to other ingredients, where all rations was unified to be an isonitrogenous and isocaloric. Rise straw was used to cover the fiber requirement in the rations at the level not more than 30% of the total DM of rations. Three digestibility trials were carried out to determine the feeding value of the experimental rations. Results indicated that digestion coefficient of all the nutrients were significantly higher with ration B than those of ration C, but insignificant higher than ration A. also the differences between rations A and C were not significant regarding the digestibility of all nutrients. Similar trend was found for TDN and DCP among the three dietary treatments. Increasing the level of wheat bran up to 50% didn’t significantly affect daily gain, both DM and TDN intake/ metabolic body unit and feed conversion efficiency. However, slightly improvements in the mentioned parameters were associated with the 35% wheat bran ration (B). noteworthy, DCP intake per metabolic unit of ration B was superior (P<0.05) compared to rations A and C. minimal effects due to the dietary treatments were recognized with respect of most criteria of the rumen fluid and blood plasma. Keywords: wheat bran, concentrate mixture, growing calves.
