Abstract Field experiments were conducted on guava trees cultivated at Abo-El-Shekok village, Kafr Saker district, Sharkia Governorate during 1999, 2000 and 2001 years. The preferable surface of guava leaves and effect of tree direction on the distribution of Pulvinaria psidii Maskell and its associated parasitoid, Metaphycus zebratus (Mercet) were studied. The obtained results indicated that: 1. P. psidii preferred the upper surface of guava leaves as compared with the lower ones. While the parasitoid was more abundant on the lower surface. 2. During the first year, the insect pest occurred almost in south-eastern direction of the tree, making an angle 24º, 5, 35. 3. During the second year, P. psidii was more abundant in east-northern direction with an angle 40º, 27, 40. 4. The insect pest showed more occurrence in south-eastern direction during the third year, forming an angle 5º, 53, 37. 5. The parasitoid was more abundant in east-northern direction during the three years of study, with angles 45º, 90 and 43º, 21, 48, respectively. 6. Generally, P. psidii and its associated parasitoids were concentrated on half tree (south, east and northern directions).
