Abstract Three methods of formulation of Egyptian entomopathogenic nematodes were tested for their effectiveness on Heterorhabditis bacteriophora and Steinernema carpocapsae. These formulations are water-dispersible granules (WDG), Calcium alginate geland infected cadavers. S. carpocapsae infective juveniles survived up to 5 months in WDG and nearly 3 months in water and the survival of the nematodes in WDG were better than water. For H. bacteriophora, a high significant increase in the nematode survival in WDG than that of water was noticed in the second month and third month of storage. The survival of S. carpocapsae was up to 87%when stored in calcium alginate for one month and the juveniles still in a good condition at the second month. A drop in survival appeared in the third month. For H. bacteriophora, infective juveniles survived up to 70% only for the first month of storage in calcium alginate and the percentage survival dropped to 25% at the second month. The percentage survival dropped from 100 to 50% after only one month of storage in water. No significant difference in the number of IJs produced per cadaver were detected among the formulated and non formulated cadavers for H. bacteriophora and S. carpocapsae. H. bacteriophora scored higher reproduction rate than S. carpocapsae. A significant decrease in infectivity were obvious for the nematodes stored in water, WDG and Calcium alginate against Icerya aegyptiaca adults but the decreased infectivity was small in case of WDG. Insignificant differences in infectivity of juveniles produced from formulated and unformulated Galleria cadavers for S. carpocapsae and H. bacteriophora against I. aegyptiaca adults were found.
