English : Enhancement effect of ethyl acetate on dispersal, host finding ability and pathogenicity of Heterorhabditis indica
Arabic : عنوان البحث التأثير التنشيطى لخلات الايثيل على انتشار النيماتودا الممرضة للحشرات من نوع "Heterorhabditis indica" وقدرتها على العثور على العائل واحداث العدوى.
Abstract The effect of treatment with 0.01% ethyl acetate on motility, pathogenicity and dispersal of the entomopathogenic nematode, Heterorhabditis indica, was examined in laboratory assays. Ethyl acetate treated H. indica showed increased pathogenicity compared to control nematodes (distilled water). Ethyl acetate increased activity of dispersing H. indica in the absence of a host. In the presence of a host, treatment with ethyl acetate increased percentage of dispersing H. indica fourfold compared with twofold for control. These results suggest that ethyl acetate not only activate dispersing nematodes but also enhance their response to the presence of host. It is concluded that H. indica could be successfully activated with such very low concentration of EA to enhance their activity and pathogenicity.
