Efficacy of Helleborus Vesicarius Aucher Extract on Survival and Reproductive Rate of Some Land Snails

| Abstract |
Eobania vermiculata (Muller), Helicella vestalis (Pfeiffer) and Monacha obstructa Pfeiffer land snail species were exposed to different concentrations of hellebore, Helleborus vesicarius Aucher stems and fruits chloroform extract in order to study acute and latent efficacy. Snails were fed on treated lettuce leaves for 30 days. Resulted LC50 values, were 1629, 487 and 145 ppm for the aforementioned snails, respectively. Survived exposed snails showed longer generation time and shorter oviposition period than non exposed snails. Also survived snails deposited less number of clutches and eggs than non exposed ones. Life table parameters showed reduction in both finite rate of increase and net reproductive rate besides a shortage in mean generation periods for treated batches. Generally it could be concluded that H. vesicarius extract suppress reproductive rate of treated snails.
