Abstract |
Spiders were collected by using two methods, pitfall traps for ground spiders and beating net for aerial spiders. Pitfall-trapped once every week in four plants (Roselle, Castor bean, Spearmint and Red Pepper) in Sennourus village, Fayoum Governorate. 15 families, 16 genera and 10 species were recorded from the study. Family Lycosidae, was found to be the dominant family in the four different vegetations plants under the study, recorded 50.79% for all the specimens; followed by family Philodromidae, represented by 8.8%, it was more abundant in red pepper vegetation; then family Gnaphosidae, Theridiidae, Linyphidae, Thomisidae and Dictynidae were high in spearmint vegetation.
The composition of ground spider assemblages was slightly different in the four vegetations. The density of spider communities in the Spearmint, Castor bean, Roselle and red pepper were nearly similar recorded 98, 71, 73 and 73 individuals, respectively. Community composition was determined throughout the period of study using the Shannon-Wiener and Simpson Indices of diversity. The obtained results revealed that species diversity was slightly different.
