English : Effect Of Different Preys On The Biological Aspects Of The Green Lacwing (Chrysoperla Carnes) Neuroptera: Chrysopidae. Egypt. J. of Appl. Sci., 23(12B):689-694.
Abstract The effect of different preys on the biological aspect of the green lacewing (Chrysoperla carnea) Neuroptera: Chrysopidae were studied. The Larvae of Chrysoperla carnea Steph were fed on eggs, first- instar larvae of Pectinophora gossypiella (Saund.) & Sitotroga cerealella and the eggs, Adult stage of the two spotted-red spider mites, Tetranychus urticae (Koch) under laboratory conditions. Data indicated a strong preference to feed on the eggs of P. gossypiella and S. cerealella rather than on caterpillars. The predatory larvae fed on first instars of caterpillars but for the T. urticae (eggs and adults) the larvae failed to reach the pupal stage. Accordingly, it is expected that C. carnea larvae may be in the near future of value in biological control on P. goossypiella. Also, C. carnea may be considered as potential biological control against mites.
