| Abstract |
The colony normally begins rearing drones in early spring or in late spring, according to locality. Their numbers depended also upon the number of workers present, and a strong colony usually had combs for producing drones. There were significant differences between the numbers of spermatozoa of drones produced in both localities, Giza and Alexandria. This was thought to be due to the effects of temperature fluctuations on the process of maturation of the drones. There were no significant differences between the weight of drones produced in Giza and in Alexandria
