| Abstract |
A tolal af 80 females and 10 males fram each of Gimmizah and Bandarah local strains at 40 weeks of age were assigned randomly to eight equal groups (four groups for each strain), twenty females in each graup. In each strain,the first group was fed on a basal diet and served as cantrol, the second, third and fourth groups were fed on a basal diet supplemented With 300 mg EPL, 1500 mg EPL and 150 mg Bezafibrate/kg of diet, respectively. The results indicated that the addition of hypocholesterolemic agent to the laying diet caused a significant (P<0. 01) decrease in serum CH, TL, Triglyceride; egg yolk CH, TL and liver CN, wilh significants (p<0.0l) increase in serum HDL and excretion of bile Contents of gall bladder specially with high level of essential phospholipid compared with the control group. Hatchability percentage was significantly (P<0.0l) decreased (about 19.9 and 20.6%) when 1500 mg EPL and 150 mg Bez were added compared with the control group. Abdominal fat percentage was significantly (P <0.01) decreased when hens fed diet supplemented with 300 mg EPL, 1500 mg EPL and 150 mg Bez compared with the Control group. While, no significant diffirences in live body weight and egg weight were observed between groups during the experimental period. Egg mass and egg production percentage were significantly (P<0.0l) decreased compared with Ihecontrol group. Feed consumption was significantly (P<0.0l) decreased when the hens fed 150 mg Bez as compared with the other groups. Yolk percentage were significanly (P<0.0l) decreased after 10 weeks of treatment, while, shell thickness was significantly (P<0.0l) reduced after 2 weeks of treatment.
On the other hand. no significant differences in yolk index and Haugh unit scorewere observed when fed diet with 300 mg EPL, 1500 mg EPL and 150 mg Bez compared wi the control group.
