Abstract |
A total number of 160 unsexed 7days old Hubbard chicks Were distributed into four experimental treatments. Each of 40 chicks in 4 replicates (10 chicks / replicate) were used in this study. The first experimental group was fed on the control diet, whereas, groups 2, 3 and 4 were fed on control diet Supplemented with dried mushroom stalks (DMS) (Pleurotus spp.) at a level of 0,0.1,0.2 and 0.4%. A starter diet was used during the starter period (7-28 days of age) Contained 22.03 % CP and 3105 kcal ME /kg diet, while the finisher diet Contained 19.00 % CP and 3196 kcal ME /kg diet Was used during the finisher period (29-49 days of age) and a1l the nutrients Were as recommended by NRC (1994). Bird diets were nutritionally evaluated through of growth performance and feed conversion as we1l as percentage of dressing, digestibility trials and blood -parameters. Results obtained could be summarized as fo1lows:
I. Average live body weight, body weight gain, and economical efficiency were significantly (P<0.01) increased in broiler group fed on the diet supplemented with 0.4 % DMS compared with other groups.
Values of feed conversion were significantly improved, while average feed consumption was decreased significantly with DMS supplementation at 0.4 % level.
2- Digestibility Coefficients of DM, OM CP, EE, CF and NFE Were significantly (P<0.0l) increased with DMS supplementation at levels 0.1,0.2 and 0.4%.
3- Relative weights of carcass traits studied were significantly affected positively by 0.1,0.2 and 0.4% DMS supplementation.
In general, these results indicate that using 0.1,0.2 and 0.4% DMS as feed additives enhances the Productive performance and economical efficiency with no adverse effects on blood constituents of broiler chicks.
