Abstract |
The present work was carried out in a trial to prepare anti- cattle and anti- buffaloes sera conjugated wit fluorescin isothiocyanate to be used in the fluorescent antibody technique. The experimental results revealed that rabbit anti-cattle serum albumin and globulin of 5.8; 2.23 and 3.56g/dl respectively with A/G ratio of 0.62. these values were 5.45; 1.85; 3.60g/dl and 0.50 respectively in rabbit anti-buffaloes serum. It was found that vaccinated cattle and buffaloes with inactivated bovine ephemeral fever (BEF) vaccine exhibited good levels of BEF neutralizing antibodies. The indirect fluorescent antibody technique (FAT) carried out on serum samples obtained from vaccinated cattle and buffaloes showed strong positive reactions when homologous anti-sera were used while these reactions were moderate when heterogonous anti-sera were used. So , the prepared anti-sera could be used in the diagnostic purposes for BEF using FAT either on cattle or buffaloes sera taking in consideration the degree of homogenecity between the tow species.
