English : Impact of biotechnological additives on replacement of Alfaalfa clover by wheat straw in rabbit rations
Abstract This study aimed to investigate the effect of prebiotic, probiotic supplementation in drinking water and partial or completely replacement of alfa alfa clover by dried wheat straw as a by-product on growth performance of growing New Zealand by dried wheat straw as a by - product on growth performance of growing New Zealand white (NZW) male rabbits (33 days old) with average body weigh (678.81 g.). Sixty-three NZW male rabbits were housed in (3 rabbit/cage X 21 cages), were randomly distributed into seven treatments and three replicates. The first one is the (control) which hadn't any oral supplementations, while, treatments 2,3 & 4 supplemented with 1% level of prebiotic (Lactosac) and treatments 5, 6 & 7 supplemented with 1 % level of probiotic (Biogin). The control one fed a commercial pelleted ration contained zero level of wheat straw (Rationl). The 2nd , 3rd and 4th treatment fed rations 2, 3 & 4 which contained 33%, 66% and 100% dried wheat straw bran. Also, the 5th , 6th and 7th treatments fed rations 2,3 and 4 respectively. Four iso - caloric iso-nitrogenous experimental ration similar in the crude fiber content are formulated. The experiment lasted for eight weeks to study the growth performance, carcass yield and economic parameters. The results showed that the biotechnological additives have enhanced growth, although there were no significant differences between treatments the highest live body weight was 2034g. for treatment 3 amd the second was 201 l.g. for treatment 2 and 1973.33g., for treatment 4 and 1951.67g. for treatment 5.So, there were no significance difference in live body weigh gain, daily weight gain between prebiotic and probiotic for the experimental rations. Performance index percentage did not show any significant difference between experimental rations and treatment but the highest was 41.25% in ration 3 under oral prebiotic during the fourth, eight the week of experimental age and the period from 0-8 weeks it could be concluded that replacement of alfa alfa clover by dried wheat straw at levels of 33, 66 and 100% with prebiotic or probiotic supplementation in drinking water for growing NZW male rabbits rations rations without any adverse effect on their growth and better than the control (non-replacement, non supplementation) treatment performance. Key words: Rabbits, alfa alfa clover, replacement, wheat straw, prebiotic, probiotic, growth performance, carcass, economic.
