Abstract Fifteen crossbred Friesian cows, in the 2nd –3rd season of lactation and weighing an average of 470 kg in their early lactation stage, were assigned to three balanced groups according to body weight and milk yield (five animals each). The first group received diet containing 40% concentrate feed mixture (CFM) + 60% whole plant of corn silage (CS). The 2nd group received diet containing 40% FCM + 30% whole plant corn silage + 30% tops potato silage (CS + TPS). The 3rd group received diet containing 40% FCM + 60% top potato silage (TPS) the diets were formulated to be iso-caloric and iso-nitrogenous according to NRC (1988). The main result showed that, ration containing TPS had the lowest digestibility values of CP, CF, NFE and OM and of nutritive value as TDN and DCP. No significant differences in rumen PH values were observed among the different.-experimental rations. Concentrations of NH3-N were significantly high with feeding TPS compared to CS and (CS + TPS), TVF A's were total VFA 's significantly higher with CS and (CS + TPS) than TPS. Microbial protein was significantly decreased with CS compared with TPS and (CS + TPS). Cows fed ration containing (CS + TPS) produced 7.44 and 8.60% more milk than that fed ration containing CS and TPS, respectively. No significant changes were observed in milk fat and milk lactose percentage among treatment. No significant differences for day at first estrus among treatment. Number of services per conception were significantly lower for group (CS + TPS) than for CS and TPS. Final conception rate was significantly higher for group (CS + TPS) as compared to CS, The progesterone values of cows that was fed ration containing (CS + TPS) were significantly higher as compared to CS or TPS group. In conclusion, these results indicated that no differences between feeding ration containing tops potato silage compared with corn silage on milk production and reproductive performance of Friesian crossbred dairy cows. Also, mixing between the corn silage and TPS improves the milk production, conception rate, number of pregnant cows and reproductive performance.
