Effect of feeding some full fat oil seeds on performance of Tilapia Hybrid (Oreochromis Niloticus x O. Aurcus) reared in tanks

| Abstract |
A study was conducted in six fiberglass tank ( 1 m3 volume each) to evaluate the effect of incorporation of 12.5% from each full fat rapeseed (canola), linseeds, peanut seeds, sesame seeds and full fat soybeans (extruded) to replace soybean meal; on growth performance of tilapia hybrid (Nile tilapia x Blue tilapia). The last group had served as a control soybean group. The experiment lasted 90 days after start and the experimental diets were almost isocaloric, isonitrogenous. The experimental diets were fed at a rate of 3% of the total fish biomass of the tank. Results obtained are summarized in the following:
1. The highest final weights (P<0.05) were obtained by the control and extruded full fat soybean diets followed in a significant (P<0.05) decreasing order by the peanut seeds, sesame seeds, linseeds and canola seeds diets, respectively.
2. Tested diets revealed significant effects on total weight gain; average daily gain; feed consumption; feed conversion ratio; specific growth rate; protein efficiency ratio and energy utilization for the favor of the control and extruded fulfat soybean groups.
3. Chemical composition of the whole fish bodies was influenced significantly by the applied treatments.
4. Feeding of tilapia hybrid on the control and extruded full fat soybean diets improved the economical efficiency compared to diets containing other seeds.
