Abstract |
Two hundreds and forty Arbor Acers broiler chicks at one week of age were divided into 4 groups of 60 chicks each of 6 replicates. Each group was assigned for one of four experimental diets.
The first group was fed on the control diet, while, the groups 2, 3 and 4 were fed on the control diet with the addition of 1 kg, 2kg and 3kg of ZIMOFERMENT (Z .U.)/ton diet, respectively. The experiment was designed to evaluate the effect of (Z.U.) addition at different levels on growth performance, carcass characteristics, some blood constituents and economical efficiency of broiler chicks at 6 weeks old.
Results obtained could be summarized as follows:
1- Average body weight (BW) and weight gain (WG) at the 6 th week of chicks age were higher but not significant in chicks fed 3 kg Z. U. / ton diet than the other treatments.
2- At 4-6 weeks and 1-6 weeks of age, chicks fed on 0.3 % Z. U. had significantly lower feed intake (FI) than the other treatments.
3- Chicks fed 0.3% Z.U. had better average of feed conversion (FC), crude protein conversion (CPC) and caloric efficiency ratio (CER) at 6 th week of chicks age, followed by those fed 0.2% Z. U
4- Results indicated that inclusion of 0.3% Z. U. in the diet significantly increased (P<0.05) dressing percentage by 5.16% in comparison with the control diet.
5- Increasing dietary Z. U. level up to 0.3% insignificantly decreased fat deposition in broiler chicks.
6- Dietary Z. U. levels had insignificant decreased the levels of cholesterol, total protein, albumin and globulin.
7- Addition of 0.3% Z. U. to the control diet resulted in the best economical efficiency (EEf) compared with the other treatments.
