English : Some performance aspects of Bauscat doe rabbits as affected by dietary supplementation with Fenugreek and Aniseed
Arabic : تأثير اضافة الحلبة و الينسون على بعض مظاهر الاداء في اناث ارانب البوسكات
Abstract Seven treatment experiment was carried out to study the effect of dietary supplementation without or with 0.5 or 1.0 %9 fenugreek or aniseed or their mixture at levels of 0.25 or 0.50 %, each on some traits of doe-rabbits and their offspring up to 8 weeks of age along three parities. Results reveal that: -litter size at birth (LSB), litter weight at birth (LWB), born alive pups, litter size at weaning (LSW), litter weight at weaning (LWW), also, average doe feed intake allover three parities were not significantly affected by studied feed additives. However, improved litter size (P<0.05) and litter weight (P<0.01) at 8 weeks of age were detected due to the tried treatments. Throughout four weeks lactation period, no statistical differences in milk yield between studied treatments were recorded for the first two weeks, while, the second two weeks and the average of the total period were significantly affected by treatments evaluated. Blood serum contents of total protein, albumin, globulin, albumin/globulin ratio, GPT and GOT prior to pregnancy were not significantly affected by treatments under study. At 7-14 days of pregnancy, total protein (P<0.01), albumin (P<0.05), globulin (P<0.05), GPT (P<0.01) and GOT (P<0.01), all were significantly differed between studied treatments. At 21-28 days of pregnancy, both GOT and GPT (P<0.01), were the only serum parameters being significantly affected by treatments. -Hormones indicate that progesterone (P4;P<0.05) and estradiol (E2;P<0.01), prior to pregnancy, triiodothyronine (T3;P<0.05), and E2 (P<0.0l) at 7-14 days of pregnancy, and again E2 (P<0.01), and P4 (P<0.01) at 21-28 days of age were significantly affected by studied treatments. Key word: Rabbit, reproductive and productive efficiency, Fenugreek, Aniseed.
