English : Farmers Knowledge Level in Weed Integrated Control in Some Villages at Kafr El-Sheikh Governorate

Abstract The objectives of this study were to recognize farmer knowledge levels concerning: weed speciess. weed integrated control and determine variables related to and interpret these knowladge levels in some villages at Kafr El-Sheikh Govern¬orate. Data were collected from a randam sample amounting to 191 respondents by personal interviews using a questionnaire. The main results of this study revealed that : •Knowledge level of 75.4% of respondents concerning weed speciess is low and moderate. •Knowledge level of 89% of the respondents concerning weed integrated control is low. •Independent variables interpret 37.4% of total variation in their knowledge level concerning weed speciess. and 21.6% of total variation in their know¬ledge level concerning weed integrated control. •There is a significant relationship between each of respondents knowledge level concerning weed speciess and their knowledge level conccrni% e4ad integrated control as dependent variables and each of the following indep¬endent variables: Frequent visits to rural service centers. exposure to agricul¬tural information sources, degree of participation in extension activities, part¬icipation in social organizations. knowledge of weed damages, knowledge of weed distribution methods. ' •Extension methods which respondents prefer are: field visits, extension mee tings, demonstration fields, home visits, extension bulletins and magazines.
