Abstract |
The study aimed to identify the perception of farmer members in the water user associations to the benefits of the irrigation development project, to determine the relationship between the Farmer's perception degrees and some studied independent variables, finally to identify the irrigation obstacles facing the investigated farmers after implementing the project This study was carried out in Kafr El- Sheikh Governorate in two areas which were El-Wosat in El Reyiad District and El Manayifa in Desooq District, 1G developed mesqas were selected randomly from all the recorded ones in these two areas, the total number of farmers on these mesqas reached to 1795. Randomly sample amounted to 180 fanners representing 10 %of the total farmers were selected to represent the study sample of the farmers on the selected developed mesqas.
Data was collected during the period from July to September 2005 through personal interview by using pretested questionnaire. Tables, frequencies, percentages, .averages, simple correlation, and step wise test were used to present and analysis data of the study.
The study revealed the following. results:
- The percentages of the farmers who perceived the benefits of the buried pipeline mesqas, blocked mesqas, and the developed techniques of irrigation were high and reached to (93.9%), (88.9%), and (88.9%) in consequence, while The percentage was medium and reached to (63.9%) for the benefits of establishing the water user associations which might be due to the consideration of the new idea among the farmers in the studied area
- There were three independent variables only affected the farmer's perception degrees and participated together in explaining (49.7%) of the variation in the dependent variable, (31.6%) of these variation due to farmer's attitudes towards rationalizing the use of water irrigation, and (16.9%) to farmer's participation degrees in water user associations.
- There were twenty obstacles facing the investigated farmers after the implementation of the project The study classified them under four groups, and introduced analysis of the causes, and suggestions to the solutions of these obstacles.
