Abstract |
Present study was performed on 62 postpartum lactating Holestein cows aged 3-7 years old to find the effect of GnRH injection on 10-14 days post insemination on pregnancy: rate in dairy cows. Animals were divided randomly to six groups each cow in the first, second, third, fourth, and fifth groups were injected with 40 μg GnRH (buserelin) I/m at 10th, 11th, 12th, 13th ,and 14th, days, 6th group is the control group left without treatment after insemination. Animal were examined for pregnancy diagnoses by Ultrasound at day 26 from AI and confirmed at day 60 by rectal examination. There was a highly significant (0.001) differences in the pregnancy rates between the different groups either after the 1st ,2nd services or the over all mean. For the 1st service, the highest pregnancy rate was in group 5 (80%) and the lowest one was in group 1 (50%). For the 2nd service, the highest pregnancy rate was in group 5 (87.5%) and the lowest one was in group 1 (33.33%). It can be concluded that administration of GnRH (buserelin 40μg I/m) as a routine on days 11, 13, 14 post insemination (1st service or 2nd service) will improve pregnancy rate in dairy cows.
