English : Effect of dietary protein and energy levels on growth performance and economic efficiency of growing matrouh local strain chickens
Arabic : الاداء الانتاجى و الاقتصادى خلال مرحلة النمو لكتاكيت سلالة مطروح المغذاة على نسب مختلفة من الطاقة و البروتين
Abstract An experiment was conducted to evaluate the performance and economic efficiency of Matrouh local strain chicks fed with different energy and protein levels. A total number of 270 one day old unsexed Matrouh chicks were randomly distributed into nine groups 30 chicks in each with three replicates fed on starter diet containing three protein levels (14, 16 and 18% CP) from (0-8 wks), (12, 14 and 16% cp) from (8-20 wks) with three energy levels (2700,2800 and 2900 kcal ME/kg) through the two periods in 3 x 3 factorial arrangement. Birds were reared under similar conditions of management. The results of body weight, weight gain and feed conversion showed that chicks fed on a diet containing 16 and 14 % cp with 2800 kcal ME (C/P ratio = 175 and 200) were significantly during the starter and the grower period, superior than those fed on low or high protein level (14 and 18% CP) C/P ratio = 200 and 156) and (12 and 16% CP) (C/P ratio = 233 and 175( during the starter and the grower period. From nutritional and economical point of view it could be recommended that energy level had a highly significant effect (P <0.05) on live body weight gain during the starter and the grower period. However, the energy level had a significant effect (P < 0.05) on feed consumption and feed conversion ratio during the starter period. The protein level had a great influence on body weight and body weight gain during all periods studied (P < 0.05), while feed conversion ratio was only affected during the starter period. No significant effect due to protein level on feed consumption was observed. In conclusion, the optimum dietary energy level recommended for Matrouh local strain chicks was 2800 kcal ME/kg along with 16% CP (C/P ratio = 175) is recommended till 8 wks, while 2800 Kcal ME/kg diet with 14% CP (C/P ratio = 200) from 8 till 20 wks of age.
