Abstract |
Two strains of Fayoumi chicken (PP) and (GG) were used in the present work 320 pullets of 24wk of age for each strain were housed in individual cages. Sixteen experimental diets (2750k. Cal. ME and 15% CP) were formulated to investigate the effects of SAA content (0.60 and 0.70% of diet); two fat sources, blend oil (BO) and a sample of distillated fatty acids (DFA), on laying performance. The fat was supplemented at levels: 0.0, 1.0, 2.0 or 3.0%. also the effect of using Fermacto, a growth promoter, on the studied traits was carried out. The criteria were egg production (EP) of 8 weeks, egg weight (EW), egg mass (EM), feed intake (FI) and feed conversion ratio (FCR).
The results indicated that PP strain was superior to GG in all studied traits, but the differences were not significant except for EM, it was significant at (P=0.0839). Using Fermacto didn’t affect the performance characteristics.
The oil supplementation at 0.0%, showed that the groups of 0.70% SAA diets, were significantly superior to those of 0.60% diets for EP, EM, and FI. No significant effect of SAA level was noticed in supplemented diets with fat sources. Nevertheless, adding fats to the experimental diets significantly improved EP, EM, and FI.
The obtained data showed no significant differences between the two fat sources on the studied traits, irrespective of their levels. Also, the changes in the dietary fat content without any associated changes in energy, were not able to influence any subsequent effect on all studied characteristics. Therefore, it could be concluded that, using fats, BO or DFA at any level of 1, 2 or 3% of laying diets improved laying performance, and SAA utilization.
