Abstract |
Infectious bursal disease (IBD) was considered one of the most important avian infectious agent. In Egypt, may severe outbreaks were reported in either vaccinated and/or non vaccinated chicken flocks with high losses in layer pullets and broilers. This may be due to the appearance of antigenic variants of IBDV. 5000 flock capacity, eleven farms for 3 successive cycles with a total of more than 165,000 chicks during a period of 18 months used to cover these previously mentioned points, six different IBD programs for vaccination of chicks with the locally prepared vaccine comparing with the imported ones to select the most suitable program to be used for protection against IBDV infection. From the results, it is clear that simultaneous vaccination with IBD vaccine either the locally prepared or imported ones with certain intervals (program 1,2 in both vaccines) gave the high immunological level as detected by SNT and AGPT as well as low morbidity and mortality.
