| Abstract |
A study was conducted to evaluate the biological activity of Brucella abortus rough strain RB51 burcellin extracted with ethanol and trichloroacetic acid (TCA) at two different temperatures (100 oC & 121 oC). the biological activity of the three brucellins were estimated in guinea pigs sensitized with Brucella abortus strain 2308, Rev1 vaccine and RB51 vaccine. Guinea pigs were intradermally injected with protein concentration of 10ug, 2ug and 0.4 ug from each different brucellin types. The calculated biological activity of the brucellins were compared with that of the standard brucellin INRA that produced the effectiveness of brucellin in detecting brucellosis. The skin erythma diameter were best recorded 48 hour after brucellin injection only the brucellin extracted by ethanol method was propagated mor potent then the standard brucellin INRA in guinea pigs sensitized with either Brucella abortus 2308 or Rev1 vaccine, while brucellin prepared by TCA at 121oC proved potent in animals sensitized with RB51 vaccine.
