English : In vitro and in vivo studies on semen quality of flander and baladi black rabbits as affected by centrifugation
Arabic : دراسات معملية و حقلية لجودة السائل المنوى لارانب الفلندر و البلدى الاسود المتأثرة بعملية الطرد المركزى
Abstract A total number of two hundred forty four (18 sexual mature bucks and 104 multifarious does of each of Flander and Baladi Black rabbits aged 9 months was used in two consecutive parities in the present study. The study included two experiments, 1st Experiment (In vitro work) was designed to evaluate libido and physical raw semen characteristics of Flander (as an exotic breed) and Baladi Black (as a local breed) of rabbits, as well as, diluted semen quality; sperm enzymatic activity; total bacterial count in semen and sperm penetration into estrous cow cervical mucus of Flander and Baladi Black rabbit semen as affected by centrifuging of semen were estimated. The second Experiment (In vivo work) was planned to evaluate fertility traits of Flander and Baladi Black rabbit does inseminated artificially by using non-centrifuged or centrifuged semen of the same breeds. Results obtained showed that, libido and physical semen characteristics represented by (semen-ejaculate volume; advanced sperm motility percentage; sperm-cell concentration per ml and per ejaculate and percentages of dead spermatozoa and acrosomal damages) ejaculated by Baladi Black rabbit bucks were significantly (P .0.05)better than those of Flander rabbit one, while sperm abnormalities percentage of Flander rabbit bucks was insignificantly higher than those of Baladi Black. Spermatozoa storage ability and physical diluted semen quality represented by percentages of each of advanced sperm-motility; sperm abnormalities; dead spermatozoa and acrosomal damages, as well as, sperm enzymatic activity represented by activities of glutamic-oxaloacetic transaminase (GOT), glutamic-pyruvic transaminase (GPT), acid phosphates (ACP) and alkaline phosphates (ALP)values were significantly (P .0.05 or 0.01)better in semen of Baladi Black than Flander rabbit bucks, and also, in centrifuged semen than non-centrifuged semen, during chilled storage at (4-6°C) for up to three days or incubated at 37°C for up to four hours.
