Residue, Haematological and Immunosupression Effects of Cyanopyrothroid, Deltamethrin in Male Albino Rats

| Abstract |
To better understand the interaction between exposure of pesticide deltamethrin and immune system and its risk to non target organisms, the present study was carried out. Quantitative detection of different classes of immunoglobulins (IgG, IgM and IgA was performed on thirty albino male rats which were divided into three groups each of ten rats, one served as control while the other two groups administered deltamethrin 1/10 or 1/20 of LD 50 for 4 and 8 weeks. The haemogram, levels of total serum proteins and serum protein fractions were also investigated as well as determination of residues in liver, kidneys and muscles. This study proved that deltamethrin leads to haemolytic anaemia indicated by significant drop of Hb, PCV, RBCs and platelets.
Radial immunodiffusion studies revealed hypo-immunoglobulinaemia (IgG, IgM and IgA. Moreover, electrophoretic analysis of protein profiles indicating hypoproteinaemia and hypo-gamaglobulinaemea in treated rats. Also, considerable amounts of deltamethrin were determined in kidney, liver and muscle tissues.
It was concluded, that the exposure to deltamethrin caused severe toxic effect on blood picture (haemogram), immune-suppression effects and drastic toxic hazard of residues in animal tissue.
