Abstract |
To better understand the interaction between Mycoplasma spp. and bovine immune system, quantitative detection of different classes of immunoglobins (IgG, IgM & IgA) was performed in cattle with clinical mastitis that did not respond to antibiotic therapy. The isolated Mycoplasma strains were identified as Mycoplasma bovis and Mycoplasma bovigenitalium which were furtherly characterized using sereological (ELISA) and biochemical analysis. Levels of total serum proteins and serum protein fractions were also determined. Radial Immunodiffusion studies on serum from infected cattle revealed hypo-immunoglobulinemia (IgG, IgM & IgA). Moreover, electrophoretic analysis of protein profiles proved that, hypoproteinemia, hypoalbuminemia and hypogamma-globulinemia were common feature in infected cattle.
