Abstract |
The aim of this study was to produce a specific hyerimmune serum for diagnosis of foot and mouth disease virus (FMDV) in sheep using inactivated virus vaccines. Based on bood laboratory practices and standard operating procedures, the quality was assured to meet the internationally required levels of potency and sterility. The titer of the product was 1024 after purification as evaluated by serum neutralization test (SNT) and Enzyme linked immuno- sorbant assay (WLISA) test. Inactivated FMDV type O1 Aga mixed with complete freund,s adjuvant (CFA) or incomplete freund,s adjuvant (IFA) and on the other hand FMDV with mantonid 206 were inoculated in three different groups of sheep previously immunized with FMDV aluminum hydroxide vaccine 3 week ago. Although the virus together with IFA, CFA, or with montanide ISA 206 elicited a high antibody response evaluated by serum neutralization test and ELISA after 8,10 and 8 weeks respectively. Formula containing montanide ISA 206 gave good result in short time in comparison with other two formulae without any side effect and with long lasting duration of neutralizing antibodies for up to 20 weeks. Local availability of such a product could be of great benefit at the time of need
