Abstract |
Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus Lin. ) fingerlings with an initial, weight 15g per fish were raised in 1000 m2 earthen pond at a stocking density of 2500 fish per pond and fed on 25% dietary crude protein at a rate 3% of total biomass during 160 days of the experimental feeding to investigate the effects different feeding frequencies on the growth of fish and on water quality experimental ponds. Fish were cultured at different feeding regimes using equal quantities of feed (twice daily. once daily and once on alternate days). feeding twice a day produced greater weight gain the highest dissolved oxygen of water ponds. The results suggested that feeding twice a day could be adopted a strategy for feeding fish under unfavorable conditions. The present study suggested that growth rates of Nile tilapia was higher at feeding twice a day than feeding once daily of cultured fish.
