Abstract The true spider, Thomisus spinifer was reared on the different stages of the pumpkin fly, Dacus ciliatus as a new natural enemy for it. T. spinifer has varied predation capacity and fed vigorously on its prey, it consumed 98 & 81 larvae and 302 & 186.3 adults for female and male, respectively, during its immature stages. Furthermore, T.spinifer consumed 1412.7 & 291.7 flies during its adult stage for female and male, respectively. Total life cycle lasted for 112.5 ± 23.0 and 83.5 ± 13.0 days for female and male, while the complete generation took place through 127.5 days and the sex ratio was 1:1.
