English : Mycotic pneumonia in buffaloes and cattle
Arabic : الالتهاب الرؤى الفطرى فى الجاموس والابقار .
Abstract over three years (1999-2001) twenty cases of buffalo and twenty cases of cattle died from respiratory sympoms. the dead and neighbouring living animals showed symptoms including, leathergy, expiratory grunt with expiratory dyspnoea as well as head and neck extension with open mouth. The mycological exmination of lung tissues of dead animals revealed isolation of different moulds and yeasts from both buffalo and cattle lungs including Aspergillus (100 and 100%) , Rhizopus(70 and 50%), Alternaria (65 and 50%) and Mucor sp.(40 and 50%),Rhodotorula (25 and 15%),albicans sp. (25 and 15%) and scopulariopsis(15 and 15%). Different members of the genus Aspergillus were also obtained (A. flavus ( 100 and 90% ) , A. Fumigatus ( 75 and 75%) ,A.glucuas ( 25 and 25% ), A. ochracaus (3 and 60 %) and A. parasiticus (75 and 70 %) from buffalo and cattle respectively. The examination of feedstuffs ( hay, rice straw, mixed feed, bran, tiben and corn ) utilized by these animals revealed isolation of almost the same fungi as that recovered from the affected lungs which give strong suggestion that the feedstuffs are the main source for these infection.
