Clitoral Massage as a Tool for Increasing Conception Rate in Lactating Dairy Cattle after Ai.

| Abstract |
ABSTRACT:
Lactating Holstein cows (n = 675) were grouped into two groups one of low milk yield (less than 20 kg/day) and the other of high milk yield (more than 25 kg /day). They artificially inseminated after detection of normal heat (without synchronization) with well trained herd's men. The two groups were further divided into three subgroups (A.B.C). All subgroups were inseminated artificially after clitoral massage. Cows in group A received massage for five sec. while cows in group B received massage for ten sec. Cows in group C didn't received any clitoral massage. This massage has been done in the morning or in the evening by five well trained personnel then inseminated by the same inseminators. A significant increased conception rates were recorded in low milk yield cows that had clitoral massage for 5 sec. especially when applied in the morning, while those cows of high milk yield had only a significant increase in conception rate when applied clitoral massage for 10 sec. Applied AI with clitoral massage in the morning improved conception rate than that in the evening. Also, low milk yield cows had higher conception rate than that of higher milk yield cows. Meanwhile, inseminators play a role in conception rate differ with time of insemination and milk productivity of cows. So, clitoral massage after AI could be used as a mean for increasing conception rate in lactating cows.
