English : Pathological Relationship between Ovarian and Uterine Affections In Relation To Hormonal Profile In Nonpregnant
Abstract SUMMARY: Uteri, ovaries, and blood samples were collected from 52 mature nonpregnant she-camels (Camclus dromcdarius) slaughtered at Kerdasa abattoir. Blood samples were used for assaying estradiol-17β and progesterone levels, while uteri and ovaries were examined for gross and histopathologic findings. Results of estradiol-17β and progesterone assay re¬vealed that animals were in follicular phase in 26/52 case (50%), atretic follicular phase in 15/52 case (28.9%) or with inactive ovaries in 11/53 case ( 21.1%). Histopathologic exami¬nation of uteri showed acute catarrhal metritis in 3 cases (5.8%), chronic metritis in 31 eases (59.6%), atrophic metritis in 8 cases (15.4%). granulomatous metritis in 2 cases (3.8%), leiomyoma in 2 cases (3.8%), and nonsignificant microscopic lesions in 6 cases (11.5%). On the other hand, ovaries revealed one or more than one microscopic lesions that included focal hemorrhages (9 cases), hemosiderosis (17 cases), multiple ovarian follicular cysts (14 cases), dysgerminoma (3 cases), and oophoritis (7 cases). The relationship between uterine affections, ovarian lesions, and hormonal profile is studied and discussed.
