Abstract The effects of four pesticides namely (metaaldehyde, methomyl, abamectin and alpha-cypermethrin) as well as dry leaf powders of some plants and trees Garlic (Allium sativum), Chicory (Cichorium endivial), Kamphor leaf (Eucalyptus globolus) and wild chamomile (Matricaria chamomilid) were tested against the land snails (Monacha cartusianá) under laboratory and field conditions. Results revealed that the highest concentration of metaldehyde gave 100% mortality after 7 days compared with the other pesticides which gave 75, 30 and 17.5 for methomyl, abaniactin and alpha -cypermethrin, respectively under laboratory conditions. Metaldehyde and mehtomyl exhibited molluscicidal activity than the other two pesticides (abamectin and alpha-cypermethrin) which failed to give any reduction of snails numbers during the experimental period. Metaldehyde and methomyl gave highly reduction percentages either during the initial or residual effect under field conditions. On the other hand, dry leaf powders of kamphor was more effective than the other tested plants under laboratory conditions, while the dry leaf powders of wild chamomile gave the highest residual effect than the other plants under filed conditions. Generally it could be reported that the two pesticides (metaldehyde and methomyl) were the most suitable compounds to control the land molluscs under field conditions.
