Abstract The present work dealt with the distribution, description and identification of the first and female second nymphal instars of six species of scale insects under four genera belonging to four families of the super family coccoidea collected in seventeen localities in eleven governorates. These species are : 1- Asterolecanium banzbusae (Boisduval) family Asterolecaniidae. 2- Asterolecanium phoemicis Ramachandra family Asterolecaniidae. 3- Asterolecaniunt pustulans Cockerell family Asterolecaniidae. 4- Eriococcus araucariae Maskell family Eriococcidae. 5- Plzoenicococcus marlatti Cockerell family Phoenicococcidae. 6- Pollinia pollini (Costa) family Cerococcidae. Following is a summary of the obtained results : 1- Thirteen host plants were found infested with one or more of the six species at the surveyed areas. These host plants include: apple, apricot, barnboo, banana, bunya , bunya pine, date palm, fig, mango, olives, peach, pear, vine and white mulberry. 2- The most common species was Asterolecanimn pustulans Cockerell (Asterolecaniidae) which was collected on ten host plants and distributed in nine governortes;while the least abundand species was Eriococcus araucariae Maskell (Eriococcidae) which was collected only on one host plant species and was distributed in one governorate. 3- Taxonomic keys to the four families based on the characteristics of the first nymphal and female second nymphal instars as well as to three species of genus Asterolecanium in family Asterolecaniidae were constructed. These species are bambusae (Boisduval), phoenicis Romachandra Rao and pustulans Cockerell. 4- Nymphal instars of' five species were redescribed and new characters were added to the original description. 5-Six first nymphal and/or female second nymphal instars of four species were described for the first Time, i.e. female second nymphal instar of Astcrolecaniuni bambusae (Boisduval), first nymphal instar of Astcrolecanium plzocnicis Ramachandra Rao, both first and female second nymphai instars of each of Eriococcus araucariac Maskell and Pollinia pollini (Costa).
