English : Bioassessment of certain Bacillus thuringiensis insecticides on the cotton leafworm:, Spodoptera Littoralis (Boisd) larvae fed on artificial diet
Abstract The bioactivities of five commercial B. thuriagiensis insecticides,i.e.,Thuricid ,HP, dipel Bactospeire, ABG-6105 and Bactospeine/ahioden were laboratory eva¬luated on the larval instars of S.Iitto¬ralis through two different rearing techniques. The first. was by mixing the selected doses of the microbial insecticides with the artificial diet, while the second was by contaminating only the sur¬face of the diet with the same selected B.thuringiensis doses. The results Indicated that Bectospeine/ thiodan was obviously more active than the other four tested B.thuringiensis formula¬tions. The potencies-of B. thurigiensis insecticides were comparatively less when assessed to a standard materiel (18000 I.U./mg) except in the case of Bactospeine/ thiodan. The data revealed also that the older larvae appeared to be leas sensitive than the youngest. Contaminating the sur¬face of larva diets with B. thuringienais formulations seemed to be compartively more effective than the normal technique usec i.e.mixing the diet with B.thuringiensis formulations
