Abstract The insecticidal, biological and morphogenetic effects of four insect growth regulators, IKI-7899, flufenoxuron, S -71624 and S-71639 as well as the effect of the two most active compounds (IKI-7899 and flufenoxuron) on the histology and on the total protein, carbohydrate and 11pid contents of the ovaries of Agrotis ipsilon treated as 4th instar larvae with LC50S of these IGRs were studied. IKI-7899 and flufenoxuron were the most toxic compounds against the larvae. The order of toxicity in a descending order was IKI-7899 > flulenoxu¬ron > S-71624 > S-71639, with LCs0s of 1, -L68- 45 and 195 ppm, respectively.
