English : Role of Agricultural Extension Agents in Field of Improvement the Maize Crop Renaissance in the Gharbia Governorate

Abstract This research aimed mainly to determining the performance level of the extension field agents to their professional extension activities. Agricultural Extension Agents population of Govemorate encompassed 320 Agricultural extension agents, 50% of them were Selected (160 participants) as a simple random sample. Percentages, arithmetic means, the weighted mean, standard deviation coefficient, partial and standard partial regression, "t" ,"f" test, "Chi square" test, multiple correlation coefficient and coefficient determination were used as tools for statistical analysis. Data were collection by using personality interviews questionnaire from the extension field agents, during May and June months 2007. The Main Results of this Study revealed that: 1-61.9% of respondents were with average ages between (47-57) years, also 65% of the extension field agents had experiences in agricultural work between (15-25) years, Perhaps 44.3% of them had experiences in agricultural extension work between (12-22) years, 68.9% of them were grown up in rural areas and 53.1% of them had numbers of the training circuits between (5-8) circuits, 2-Findings showed too, 46.9% of respondents had a low degree of performance of their extension activities to improvement the Mize, while 41.8% of them had a mean degree and 11.3% of them had a high degree, 3-Also Results showed that: some of the Independent Variables were had appositive correlation relationship a 0.01 level between the total degrees of their performance of the extension activities to improvement production of the Mize crop, but some Independent Variables had appositive significant correlation between them and the total degrees of performance of respondents at 0.05 level, 4-Findings showed that, there were a number of Independent Variables which affected the total degrees of performance of the respondents were the age, experience of the respondents in the agricultural work, a number of the training days and a number of the information resources percentage 11.3%.
