| Abstract |
The main objectives of the study were to identify views of agricultural extension team members in relation with those problems that impede them from fulfilling their roles; and to identify agricultural extension research team members' views on the way to cope with the identified problems.
The study conducted on agricultural extension research team members in some administrative districts located in Shark El-Delta Region. A single administrative district was selected randomly from each sites of the research govemorates. Those districts were Zagazig, Ismailia, Port-Said, El-Ganain, Bir Ei-Abd, AI-Tour (govemorates of Sharkia, Ismailia, Port-Said, Suez. Shamal Sinai, Ganoub Sinai). The study data were collected from 83 participants (the study population).
A pretested written questionnaire and interprosonal interviens were used in collecting the study data. The study data were collected during April 2004. Frequency tables, percentages, and weighted arithmetic mean were used in analyzing the study data.
The main findings of the study were the following:
■ The main problems stated by the study participants were: unavailability of proper means of transportation, deficiency of enough fund, unavailability of equipment and aids necessary for fulfilling the necessary field work, improper timing of transferring solutions to farmers, lack of proper training, lack of farmers' information low encouragement of officials and leaders to farmers, lack of cohesion between each of agricultural extension research team members, agricultural extension agents, and farmers and lack of coordinator and integration among the agricultural extension research team members.
- The study participants stated some suggestinos for solving the previously mentioned problems involving availability of needed financial resources, speeding means of communication with the responsible authosities , talking to farmers with their understood language, rewarding agricultural extension agents, speeding the solutions to fanners, providing enough subject matter specialists, providing enough means of transportation, availability of proper meeting halls, avoiding work duplication with national campaigns, preparing enough communication centers in the govemorates. and continuously monitoring to the research team members' performances.
