Abstract |
In 2006, clinical signs of respiratory disorders referring to infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) appeared in calves in dairy cattle farm in the Red Sea Governorate. The observed signs were fever, anorexia, profuse lacrimation, conjunctivitis, corneal opacity, nasal discharge, coughing & salivation. The morbidity rate was 55% & mortality was 6%.
IBR virus was isolated & identified as bovine herpes virus -1 (BHV – 1) by indirect IFA, also detection of antibodies to IBRV by ELISA test. Haematological findings were microcytic hypochromic anaemia & leucopenia. The biochemical analysis showed significant decrease in total proteins, albumin, ALPHA & Bita globulins with significant incease inY- globulin, AST, ALT, urea & creatinine. Histopathological findings were reported in lung, heart, liver & kidney. Sings, haecmatological. Biochemical, pathological & virological investigations will guarantee an accurate diagnosis of the disease.
