English : The Cognitive Abilities of Agricultural Extensionists in Utilizing Visits and Extension Meetings Methods in El-Behara Governorate

Abstract The main purpose of this research focused on the study of the agricaltural extensionists cognitive abilities in utilizing visits and meetings as extension methods The following objectives were established to give direction to the study: 1-determine some personal variables, 2-determine the agricultural extensionists cognitive abilities in utilieing visits'and meetings as extension methods 3-determine the relationship exested between some selected personal variables and the respondent's cognitive abilities and determine the major problems facing extisicnists in using the two studied methods, and suggested solutions the data for this study were collected from a random sample of 230 respondents by using a questionnaire through personal interview.Percentages, standard deviation, simple and multiple correlation, chi square test were used as statistical tools for data analysis. The major findings of this study were summarized as follows: 1-of the respondents studied , 74.7 percent and 72 percent had low and median levels of cognitive abilities respectively. 2-a significant positive correlation was existed between the cognitive abilities of the respondents and each of the following independent variables: achievement motivation , satisfaction with agricultural job , tenure in extension work , age . educational degree , and educational specialization , non were found with respondents origin and resident place . The major problems facing respondents in using the two studied methods were ranked as follows . Lack of incentives, shortage in extension methods aids and training programs. For solving such problems they suggested, "increasing, extension's incentives, facilities, extension aids diffusion of VIRCO project among extensionists and conducting more training programs for extensionists in the area of visit and extension meetings metnods.
